WHAT'S HAPPENING ?
33,000 people have indicated they will be
marching in Seattle, at the same time crowds are converging on Washington DC to do the same thing. (In D.C., c. 200,000 are predicted) You might find it inspiring to take a look online at the sites
talking about this march, which is taking place in 200 different event locations-- in 46
states and 30 countries..Though there are many social justice reasons for participating in this march, many women
and men plan to wear pink hats to protest actions demeaning to women.

WHO IS GOING AND WHAT IS THE PLAN?
Besides the 33,000 noted above, several Urban Sketchers-Tacoma (and Seattle) artists will be doing Reportage Sketching during the Seattle march. Those of us from the Tacoma area will be going as a
group by Express Bus to Seattle. Once there, we will find shared sketching locations during the day from which
to sketch the march, have lunch together at an appropriate time, and come home in the
afternoon on an Express Bus, when we agree upon an optimal 'going home' time or times.
FOR THIS GROUP: SKETCHING = OUR MARCH.
FOR THIS GROUP: SKETCHING = OUR MARCH.
We will be free to decide together how much we wish to move from place to place during the day,
4:00 pm is the official end of this event. I suspect some of us will want to return to Tacoma at varying times.
WHEN & WHERE TO MEET
The gang will meet at the bus stop for the 8:40 am--- #590 EXPRESS bus to Seattle. The bus stop is located on the back side of the Freight House parking garage
along Jefferson
This bus leaves on time so be early not to miss it!! This will be the first stop of the day for this bus, so there should be seating.
SOME SUGGESTIONS THAT MAY BE HELPFUL FOR YOU
This is my personal plan-->do modify it to fit your needs: Carry minimum sketching gear (remember pink markers/pink colored pencils, etc., black & white ink pens, smallish sketchbook, a small folding stool. Leave backpack/bag at home. Dress in layers-- maybe wear vest with lots of pockets--some with zippers for phone/money/credit cards/ bus pass/keys/lipstick-powder. Wear heavy socks--comfortable shoes. Wear USk-Tacoma badge; shocking pink knit hat & gloves (bring extra set to give away); sunglasses (eternal optimist). Take plastic poncho (tiny pkt.) in case of rain or to sit on damp ledges;small bottle of water+snack.
Look forward to sketching with you!! Frances
