Wilson Way Pedestrian Bridge
We had a great morning to sketch near the Point Defiance boat launch. The only challenge was parking due to the popular boating day. There were plenty of walkers, stair climbers and slide riders. The mountains were out, the ferry was running on schedule, and the boaters were launching.

Point Defiance in the fog
We met at the Pt Defiance Marina on a very foggy morning. It was unfortunate that the view was obscured.
Is there anything out there?
The numbers of sketchers shifted throughout the morning. At one point there were 9 sketchers. But at the throw down, there were only 4 of us left.
Even before the fog, I'd decided I was going to decamp over to the Japanese garden. I'd missed that sketch outing last month and wanted another chance at it. I'd sketched the shrine some years ago but am no longer happy with that sketch. Today the tree behind the shrine was a red as the Tori Gate!

Narrows Bridge
This is the bridge that replaced "galloping Gertie",
the bridge across the Tacoma Narrows that swayed, bucked and then
collapsed in the famous 1940 film. Actually, it's now two bridges as
another entire bridge was built recently so now there are more lanes
across. It connects the Tacoma area with the Kitsap Peninsula.
I had a short shift at Fort Nisqually today. So I left early and took a drive around the somewhat cooler Pt. Defiance Park's 5 mile Drive. There are so many trees that it was about 10 degrees cooler than the freeway had been earlier. It is from one of the viewpoints that I made this sketch.
