Yesterday August third USK Tacoma met at the Fireman's Park in Downtown Tacoma. The day was beautiful and thanks to the wind the temperature did not feel too warm. Fireman's Park was created in 1894 next to the city's first Brick fire station Engine House No. 6 that was built in 1891. This station used to be at the southern edge of the park. This park also has a sculpture that commemorates the logging history of this city as well as an amazingly tall Totem Poll that was erected in 1903 that claims to be, according to the plaque, that it is the tallest in the world. On a side note this Totem Pole played an important part in a 1926-27 silent film called "Eyes of the Totem." From this park the visitor will enjoy views of Mt. Rainier, the Industrial Harbor and Commencement Bay.
This the sketch I was able to complete during this relaxing sketch out;
Happy Sketching!
